The Minister for Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, Prof. Dr. Siniša Karan, visited today the Public Institution Centre for Socio-Political Research, where he spoke with the Director of this institution, Dušan Pavlović.

Director Pavlović informed Minister Karan that the core activities of this institution are the implementation, support and promotion of theoretical and applied research of historical, political, cultural and other events and processes important for the Republic of Srpska.

“Since its establishment, the activities of the Centre have been directed along two parallel tracks: materials for the domestic expert and general public and materials for decision-makers, based on research carried out in various fields on topics of importance for the Republic of Srpska. The Centre’s materials are published in several languages, with a focus on strategic communication towards the international public, aiming to break political prejudices and blockades that have existed from the 1990s until today,” Pavlović said.

He added that, among other things, the primary fields of the Centre’s work include geopolitical issues, security and constitutional questions, the organization of forums and scientific conferences with international participation, as well as publishing activities. In addition, constant research is being conducted on pressing issues relevant to decision-makers in the Republic of Srpska.

Minister Karan praised the efforts of all employees in the Centre, which, in his own words, has achieved much since its establishment in 2022. He added that the Ministry will continue to wholeheartedly support the work of the Centre so that the results of its work become even more visible, since it has already contributed—and continues to contribute—to the visibility of the Republic of Srpska.

“Science must have social engagement. It is not an end in itself. That is why I believe it is very important that everything the Centre does be made as visible as possible, in order to create a broader picture regarding all the issues it engages with and which are vital for the preservation of essential national interests,” Minister Karan emphasized.
