On October 16, 2025, a promotion of David Engels’ book “Defending Europe as a Civilization” in Serbian language — the edition for the Republic of Srpska, published by the Centre for Socio-Political Research of the Republic of Srpska — was held at the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska. The Director of the Centre, Dušan Pavlović, stated that this was a unique opportunity to hear how scholars from Europe itself — those who do not fit into contemporary academic frameworks and who challenge them — think about the survival of Europe.

The author spoke about the motives behind writing the book, his own research experience, as well as the potential directions in which Europe is heading.

The discussion touched upon the central concept advocated by David Engels — Hesperialism — the public reception of the book, movements such as ecological, liberal, and woke currents, as well as the position of the Republic of Srpska within the constellation of relations that Europe currently finds itself in.
