Malenica: USAID – poisoning the minds of the world

    9. February 2025.

The start of the Donald Trump’s second term, among other things, was marked by multiple measures of the new administration directed against the ideological and political legacy of the liberal American elites. Of particular interest in this intra-American political conflict is the fate of USAID, a de jure humanitarian organization, but in reality an institution that for decades served as a propaganda tool of the American authorities and a source of funding for political coups and social engineering around the world.

According to research by a commission of the American Congress, in fiscal year 2023 alone, USAID had funds of forty billion dollars at its disposal. At the same time, Elon Musk, a prominent figure in the new Trump administration, is proposing a complete shutdown of the agency, calling it beyond repair. Representatives of the Democrats immediately condemned the move, emphasizing the importance of this institution as an instrument of American foreign policy, thus justifying long-standing doubts about USAID’s declarative mission.

Based on the significant amount of money invested in the Balkans by this agency over a period of three decades – billions of dollars – we can assume a special degree of importance that this region occupied in USAID’s global projections, as well as the necessity of maintaining an artificially created narrative, especially on the territory of the former Yugoslavia.

It is indicative that territories inhabited by Serbs aroused special interest. We should not be surprised by attempts to encourage the auto-chauvinization of Serbian society and the numerous financial connections of a whole series of supposedly independent, non-governmental organizations from Serbia, Montenegro, Republic of Srpska and BiH precisely with the American “agency for international development”, which gives insight into the essential nature and purpose of the American influence manifested through USAID and similar organizations.

Essentially, the main mission was and remains the subversion of the minds of the local population, their westernization through trivialization of indigenous expressions of culture and the suppression of authentic national traditions and customs. These processes are followed by the constant instigation of instability and tension in society through the advocacy of foreign ideologies and behavior and the maintenance of a state of political and economic colonization with the aim of exploitation for the benefit of Western, mostly American, elite and corporate interests.

This approach to others, at its core, is hostile to the real national, religious and cultural diversity of the world, thus becoming hostile to the idea of America as the country of the American people, the very idea that Donald Trump, at least declaratively, manifests through the slogan “America First”.

Having developed into a global network, USAID’s activities were primarily directed against the interests of nations as well as the very concept of nation, which made the subversive action of this agency against the United States, as they are imagined by the average American citizen, inevitable.

In the newly created circumstances, both on the global and the local level, which are characterized by the complementarity of numerous political forces, the Serbian political leadership is given an opportunity that is rarely encountered. Taking social stability and security into account, the current moment contains the prerequisites for reorienting policies towards those currents that favor Serbian national interests and to which we, outside of the political context, belong.

All previous policies and initiatives, directed towards the sovereignty of the Serbian political space, must now be brought to their logical conclusion. At the same time, use the given moment to ensure a systemic solution and take formal measures to protect the population of the Republic of Srpska and its identity space from various forms of subversive activity, now and in the future.

The Law on Foreign Agents of the Republic of Srpska appears to be a priority and expedient measure by the very nature of things. Experiences from Russia, China, Hungary, Georgia and the United States itself speak in favor of this. Seen from the perspective of political science, the adoption of such a law undoubtedly promotes and strengthens indigenous sovereignist competences. It is in the interest of the Republic of Srpska, as a collective, to provide broad social support to initiatives that strengthen the fundamental assumptions of shaping the Republic in accordance with the needs and identity of its own population.
